Shopify store launch checklist for India
Most Shopify launches fail on details: payments, shipping, policies, tracking and mobile pages. A practical pre-launch checklist for Indian stores, grouped so you can work through it in a day.
Before launching a Shopify store in India, check six areas: payments and checkout, shipping and delivery promises, taxes and legal policies, product pages and photos, tracking and analytics, and mobile speed and usability. Place a few real test orders from start to finish, on a phone, before you spend a rupee on ads.
A store can look finished and still fail on the first real order: a payment method that does not work, a delivery promise you cannot keep, a missing return policy, or ad tracking that records nothing. This checklist is grouped so you can work through it in a day and fix problems while they are cheap.

Shipping and delivery
Taxes, legal pages and policies
Consistency matters. The delivery time, return window and contact details must match across product pages, policies, emails and marketplace listings. Mismatches create complaints and erode trust.

The final test: real orders
Place at least three real orders from different devices and payment methods, including a cash-on-delivery order if you offer it. Ship one to yourself. Then process a return. You will find at least one problem, and it is far better that you find it than your first fifty customers.
Which apps are worth installing at launch?
Install only what you need on day one: reviews, a shipping or courier integration, abandoned cart and WhatsApp or email messaging, and analytics if your theme does not cover it. Every app can add scripts and monthly costs, and many overlap. Add more only when a specific problem appears, and remove apps you stop using, because some leave code behind that slows the store.
What mistakes do new Indian stores make most often?
How should product pages be written for Indian shoppers?
Answer the questions buyers would ask a shopkeeper: what exactly is it, what size and material, how do I care for it, when will it arrive, and what if it does not suit me. Show prices clearly with any shipping charge, mention cash on delivery if available, and add real customer photos and reviews as soon as you have them. Short FAQs on each key product reduce support messages and help the page appear in search and AI answers.
What should you do in the first 30 days after launch?
Watch conversion rate, average order value, return reasons and support questions every day. Fix the questions customers keep asking by improving product pages. Start ads small, with reliable tracking, and scale only what is profitable after costs. Our guide to why Shopify suits Indian D2C brands covers platform choices if you are still deciding.
Work through this list once before launch and again a month later. The second pass usually catches the problems real customers revealed, from confusing size charts to slow pages on budget phones, and fixing them early compounds into better reviews and lower ad costs.
