Humanities & Social Sciences

History taught as dates and civics taught as definitions produce students who can pass an examination and cannot explain why a law matters or how a price rises. The subject is genuinely interesting; the treatment usually is not.

This course teaches the humanities as live subjects: how the Indian state is structured and what each part does, how an economy moves money around, how media and advertising shape what people believe, how societies are organised, and how to read a source critically.

It also teaches the skills the humanities are actually assessed on later — building an argument, using evidence, writing clearly, and holding a position under disagreement. Useful for a child aiming at civil services or law, and useful for any child who will one day vote.
